Otherwise great, but yeah, the assembly monkey must have slapped it on with about 5 ugga duggas instead of 1.

Great value, but beware thread compound

This is a great value upper receiver for those looking to put their own handguard on the upper. Be advised however, there appears to be some really heavy duty thread compound on the gas block set screws and muzzle brake. So if your handguard requires a slim, or non standard barrel nut... Good luck getting them off there. On the other hand, that means they are built to last under about any circumstances. So you may want to specify to either not have compound put on there in your order note, or just buy components separate and assemble yourself. I thought I'd save a few bucks this way, but that isn't the case. Barrel fitment to upper was tight and everything looks great though ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAS Defense Reply: Kurtis: We use blue, removeable Loc-Tite on the gas block set screws and torque them to 40 INCH LBS to ensure the gas block never moves. We recommend applying a little heat to the gas block the set screws do not break free easily on your first attempt. Thank you for your business and your feedback!
